Government supply chain bolstered by Indigenous businesses
Indigenous-owned businesses will have greater access to multimillion-dollar tendering and procurement opportunities under an agreement between UrbanGrowth NSW and Supply Nation.
Supply Nation collaborates with government, corporate and Indigenous Australia to facilitate, encourage and promote business links between Indigenous-owned businesses and other Australian companies and government agencies.
The move will expand and diversify the range of suppliers for UrbanGrowth NSW’s portfolio of city-shaping projects.
“Under the agreement UrbanGrowth NSW will have access to over 1200 new suppliers who in turn will be encouraged to tender for lucrative opportunities across our portfolio of projects,” said UrbanGrowth NSW Acting Chief Executive Barry Mann.
“This will benefit both organisations and reflects our commitment to diversity both in our workforce and procurement process.”
As part of a broader initiative, all suppliers who tender for business with UrbanGrowth NSW will be encouraged to provide information relating to their own organisation’s support of the Indigenous community through employment opportunities and across their own supply chain.
Supply Nation Chief Executive Officer, Ms Laura Berry, said, “We are delighted to welcome UrbanGrowth NSW as a Supply Nation member and look forward to working with them to develop their supplier diversity footprint.
“Supply Nation and its membership play an important role in closing the gap on Indigenous disadvantage by facilitating growth in Indigenous enterprise in Australia.”
Supply Nation is the Australian leader in Indigenous supplier diversity. Supply Nation’s directory of Indigenous-owned businesses, Indigenous Business Direct, is endorsed by the Australian Government as the leading directory of Indigenous businesses. To be listed as a supplier, member businesses must be at least 50 per cent owned by Indigenous Australians.
Supply Nation connects its member organisations with Indigenous-owned businesses, with the vision of building a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable Indigenous enterprise sector.
