About us

Who we are

UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation (UrbanGrowth NSW) is a New South Wales Government agency. We work with government, private and community partners to facilitate economic development, including the renewal of urban places across metropolitan Sydney.

Our work supports the Premier’s Priorities to create jobs, deliver infrastructure, keep our environment clean and make housing more affordable. It aligns with the objectives set out in the Greater Sydney Region Plan and supporting district plans, as well as Future Transport 2056 and Building Momentum: State Infrastructure Strategy 2018-2038.

What we do

What we do

UrbanGrowth NSW enables and inspires the creation of extraordinary places. We bring together economic, social and environmental benefits to create extraordinary places within metropolitan Sydney, including The Bays, Redfern-Waterloo and Parramatta North Growth Centres.

Our activities are governed by the Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974.

How we do it

How we do it

We promote, co-ordinate, manage and secure orderly economic development in our growth centres by:

  • consulting with the community, businesses, local organisations and other stakeholders
  • undertaking land use planning investigations and feasibility studies
  • developing overarching masterplans that integrate planning for economic and social development, schools, hospitals, infrastructure, transport, open space and a diversity of new homes and public places
  • owning, buying and selling government land, as necessary.

Our culture

Our values and behaviours are guided by our Culture Compass, which ensures that we work in a trusted, transparent and collaborative manner.

Why we do it

Why we do it

We believe the best urban places are those that offer economic, social and environmental benefits for the people of New South Wales.

As a NSW Government agency, we can bring together partners to facilitate the planning for, and development of, sustainable places within our designated growth centres.
